In January 2015 our Certification Board, NICEIC, are launching a Managed Learning Program for persons wishing to enter the Gas industry as a Category 3 engineer.
The outline of the program is as follows:
The candidate will attend Technical Gas Training for 20 days, undergoing training in all aspects of the Gas Industry from Legislation to Installation of pipe-work and appliances.
On conclusion of the 20 days the candidate will seek employment with a company who employ Gas Safe Registered Engineers, for extended on the job experience in all aspects of the Gas Industry in which the Candidate wishes to become qualified.
During this employment the Candidate will compile an in depth Portfolio of work evidence, countersigned by the mentoring gas registered engineer.
It is envisaged that completion of this Portfolio will take a minimum of 6-12 months.
After submitting the portfolio of evidence the candidate will sit an exam, on the successful conclusion of which, a certificate will be awarded which will allow the holder to undertake their ACS Assessment for a Core qualification and related appliance assessments.
