This course covers the key competencies required in order to correctly select the most appropriate PV system for different buildings following client consultation. It also covers the safe installation and commission of the most common small-scale PV systems and their maintenance and servicing.

 

Successful completion of this course and its assessment are recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) for inclusion in their registration application which allows you to self-certify works carried out by yourself to Building Control. It is also NOS & QCF Mapped.

 

The course and manual cover:

  • Photovoltaic panels in context of renewable technologies
  • How a Photovoltaic system works – principles and components
  • Design of a PV system
  • Installation of a PV system
  • Commissioning and Client Hand Over
  • Maintenance and Fault Finding
  • Control and power requirements
  • System commissioning and handover to client

Pre-Requisite:

Trainees should hold a formal craft qualification e.g. N/SVQ 3 in Electrical Installation (Buildings and Structures) or equivalent earlier certification that includes Inspection & Testing or a recognised Part P competence certification that includes Inspection & Testing and a BS 7671: 2008 Requirements for Electrical Installations (17th Edition) qualification.

Trainees can also enrol for the course if they meet the requirements of the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS).

Also by providing 2 years experience with demonstrable evidence as well as being a member of a Competent Person Scheme (CPS).
